Dr. Jill Stein, who will become the Green Party presidential candidate, released a clear and comprehensive policy statement on Israel, Palestine and the Middle East on her website.https://www.jillstein2024.com/

Jill Stein is the only American Presidential candidate to insist on a Middle-East policy platform grounded in international law, human rights, equality, peace, freedom and justice for everyone. She asks the right questions and provides brilliant answers.

~Timothy Martin Flanagan: (associate editor at ThePeaceresource.com

From a recent statement by Dr. Jill Ellen Stein:

“United States policy regarding Israel and Palestine must be revised to make international law, peace and human rights for all people the central priorities. The U.S. government sometimes voices support for these principles, but U.S policy towards Palestine and Israel has been counterproductive.

defendingisraelThe United States has encouraged the worst tendencies of the Israeli government as it pursues policies of occupation, apartheid, assassination, illegal settlements, blockades, building of nuclear bombs, indefinite detention, collective punishment, and defiance of international law. Instead of allying with the courageous proponents of peace within Israel and Palestine, our government has rewarded consistent abusers of human rights. There is no peace or justice or democracy at the end of such a path. We must reset U.S. policy regarding Israel and Palestine, as part of a broader revision of U.S. policy towards the Middle East.

On taking office, I will put all parties on notice – the Israeli government, the Palestinian Authority and the gaza1Hamas administration in Gaza – that future U.S. support will depend on respect for human rights and compliance with international law. All three administrations will be held responsible for preventing attacks by non-state actors on civilians or military personnel. These actors will be given 60 days to each demonstrate unilateral material progress towards these ends.

Material progress will be understood to include an end to discriminatory apartheid policies within the state of Israel, removal of the Separation Wall, a ban on assassination, movement toward de-nuclearization, the release of all political prisoners and journalists from Israeli and Palestinian prisons, disarmament of non-state militias, and recognition of the right of self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians.

peace-justiceFailure by any party to demonstrate sufficient material progress will result in the end of U.S. military and economic aid to that party. Should the end of U.S. aid fail to cause a party to redirect its policies and to take steps resulting in sufficient material progress within an additional 60 days, I will direct my State Department to initiate diplomacy intended to isolate and pressure the offending party, including the use of economic sanctions and targeted boycott. In this way, U.S. policy will begin to become consistent with its practices regarding other violators of human rights and international law.

Consistency in U.S. policy regarding human rights and international law can begin with Palestine and Israel. I will apply this same approach to other nations and ensure that the United States honor obligations to protect human rights.

Finally, as President, I will put the full weight of the United States behind the establishment of a Palestine and Israel news3-1Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This can be a vehicle for shifting from human rights violations to a new era of trust: We can bring all parties together to seek solutions. Any stakeholder who enters into this process must pledge to work for a solution that respects human rights. This will bring America’s Middle East policy into alignment with American values. I understand that a dedicated commitment to justice will further American interests in the region. And I know this is in the best interests of all people living in Israel and Palestine.”

guest_stein-640x360Dr. Stein:

“Bibi is a threat not only to human rights and to U.S. interests, but also to the security and sanctity of the Jewish people living in Israel-Palestine.”

https://www.jillstein2024.com/

Dr. Jill Ellen Stein
“…urges support for “popular movements for peace and demilitarization in Israel-Palestine, especially those that reach across the lines of conflict to engage both Palestinians and Israelis of good will.”

The platform specifically recognizes the rights of self-determination of all peoples in Israel-Palestine, the legal right of return for refugees from the conflict, the suspension of U.S. aid to Israel, the use of boycott and divestment as non-violent means to pressure corporations and the Israeli government to end human rights abuses, and the creation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, “whose inaugurating action would be mutual acknowledgement by Israelis and Palestinians that they have the same basic rights, including the right to exist in the same, secure place.”

onemorethingStein has praised the Israeli political party Meretz in calling for a return to 1967 borders, including a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem, and for supporting the 2002 Arab Peace Proposal.

Stein is not afraid to talk tough about travesties being perpetrated by Israel that are politically and materially supported by the US. She sees the US as ENABLING the “worst tendencies of the Israeli government.” She cites these toxic policies: occupation, apartheid, assassination, illegal settlements, building of nuclear bombs, indefinite detention, collective punishment, and defiance of international law.”

Stein challenges that the US government, instead of aligning with the courageous voices advocating peace, REWARDS an Israel that consistently ABUSES the human rights of Palestinians.

Declares Dr. Stein:

“There is no peace or justice or democracy at the end of such a path. We must reset U.S. policy regarding Israel and Palestine, as part of a broader revision of U.S. policy towards the Middle East.”

Some people are so afraid they cannot find the courage to debunk the junk and face facts. And increasing numbers don’t want to know truths which may be too terrible to bear.

  1. Clearly, you’re behind the times. You nothing of which you speak. Nor do you know Zionist Israel’s reprehensible history, it’s brutal occupation of the indigenous Palestinian people in Palestine. The idea that Israel is surrounded by hostile nations is absurd. The US’s next closest ally in the ME (perhaps its closest and Israel’s nefarious twin, so to speak), Saudi Arabia, is the very Wahhabist extremist state that funds ISIS, Al Qaeda and Al Nusra. Yes, we know why these terrorist groups never attack Israel. 😉 The racist apartheid state of Israel and the terrorist state of Saudi Arabia are, together (and even separately), a menace to the planet.

    1. I am perhaps ahead of these hard times. Your comment, back in 1918 is ludicrous. And it is even more nonsensical today. Clearly I understand that Netanyahu and Biden and Harris who are funding his terror, belongs behind bars.

I have never said that Israel is surrounded by hostile nations. What I have said is that America is the largest exporter of terror, munitions and war on planet earth. Israel and Saudi Arabia are tied for second place.

We do have solutions at hand this coming November: Her name is Jill Stein.

  2. Voting for Democrats is voting for those who lie about endless war…
Voting for Republicans is voting for those who brag about endless war.

Voting Green is a vote for peace, people and planet. <3

  3. The Jewish State is implementing a policy of ethnic clensing. incitement against Palestinians and Arabs, teaching hatred to children, glorifying murderers, waging propaganda campaigns based on lies. illlegal building on property which does not belong to them, diversion of humanitarian aid to attack people in Gaza and the West Bank, bombing nonaggressive nations. breaking treaties, individual and mass attacks against civilians, imprisonment, torture, denying history, using human shields, tribalismm and murder.

Facts remain and logical fallacy is not an argument. Israel is a nuclear power with an Army, Navy and an Air Force. The people of Gaza and the West bank have none of these. Israel controls the conflict. And their crimes are inexcusable.

  4. She is an adverb. Dr. Jill Stein is a proud American doctor who supports shutting down 27 avoidable wars of choice and investing that money in people, peace and progress by rebuilding this nation, restoring civil rights, providing free college, implementing universal nonprofit single-payer health care and erasing student debt. We can shine with Stein’s vetted plan called the Green New Deal. We did it in the 40s and we can do it again. Secure the peace with jobs and home and stop creating enemies by attacking smaller and less powerful nations who have not attacked us. We can rebuild the nation instead of lining the pockets of corporate cons and profiteers.

  5. Come on folks, Jills position on isreal is no comparison to clint and duffus.

In politics we are always not give the ideal candidate but we choose the lesser of evils.

  6. Wiley Coyote is misrepresenting Dr. Stein. Any nations involved in unprovoked aggression will no longer receive arms from the USA. This includes Israel, Saudi Arabia and anyone else deemed necessary.

The Green New Deal is quite specific and Dr. Stein has been clear. We will shut down corporate wars of choice and the corporate elite will have to reinvest in rebuilding infrastructure because we can no longer afford expanding wars of aggression fought for billionaires who pay no taxes and steal the taxes we pay.

    Peace and Human Rights:

Establish a foreign policy based on diplomacy, international law, and human rights. End the wars and drone attacks, cut military spending by at least 50% and close the 700+ foreign military bases that are turning our republic into a bankrupt empire. Stop U.S. support and arms sales to human rights abusers, and lead on global nuclear disarmament.
    Empower the People:

Abolish corporate personhood. Protect voters’ rights by establishing a constitutional right to vote. Enact electoral reforms that break the big money stranglehold and create truly representative democracy: public campaign financing, ranked-choice voting, proportional representation, and open debates.

It is time we did the right thing: Here are more resources for change:

  7. This is pure prejudice. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) FREED slaves. Islam PUT AN END to female infanticide, instituted property rights for women–rights which women in the West did not have UNTIL THE TWENTIETH CENTURY, and limited divorce, which prior to Islam was the unfettered right of men. Islam also LIMITED the number of wives a man could take.
As for “terror,” look at what the US has done in Iraq, Afghanistan and everywhere else. In the US, Christian terrorists such as Timothy McVeigh have killed FAR MORE people than Muslims.
The responses of other people to this bigotry should be taken to heart.

    1. Most of this message is pure garbage. NOWHERE in Islamic jurisprudence are “the “peaceful” verses in the Koran are abrogated and superceded by the “violent verses.”

Most of the verses supposed cited in this pack of lies say nothing like what Brian says. For example, near the end of these lies, Brian says that verse 8:12 says,
Terrorise and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an_ (8:12)

Verse 8;12 says, “Lo! Thy Sustainer inspired the angels [to convey this HIs message to the believers]: ‘I am with you.!”

Brian also says that 8:12 says, “Terrorise and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an.”

NOWHERE IN THE QUR’AN ARE THE WORDS ‘TERRORIZE’ OR ‘BEHEAD’
      E-V-E-R USED.

You can discover that for yourself by searching on these words at
      http://www.islamicity.org/quransearch/

I am not going to waste my time any more reading or replying to any of this HATEFUL, BIGOTED, VICIOUS bilgewater.

The whole screed reminds me of Bob Ewell spitting on Atticus Finch in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. All any sane person can do is simply wipe the spit off and ignore the bigot.

BTWYou can discover for yourself what any or all of the verses Brian mistranslates by looking them up on Islamicity, or any of the other sites which carry the text of the Holy Qur’an.

      http://quran.com
      http://www.quranexplorer.com/quran/

God will deal with this blasphemer in His own good time, and He will protect the Holy Qur’an as He has for fourteen centuries.

    2. TO THE MODERATOR: I note that you have not approved my reply to Mr. Reilly’s hate speech. Why is it that you allow the most vicious lies about the Prophet whom we Muslims revere, but you do not allow replies to those insults? Was it simply because I characterized Mr. Reilly’s statements as “bilge water” or “pure garbage”? Well, I think that speech is worse than trash or garbage. It is pure filth.
Accusing Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him!) of being a mass murderer, a slave owner, and a mass rapist is truly ugly, and hardly the kind of language that should be allowed on a site which SUPPOSEDLY is about PEACE.
Muhammad freed slaves, did not fight the oppressive Quraish, the rulers of Mecca, until he had to, and did NOT, despite all the propaganda to the contrary, engage in immoral sexual practices.
Shame on you for allowing hate speech on your site, and Mr. Riley to use it to advance his Islamophobia.

        1. Thank you very much, Mr. Flanagan.

Most of Mr. O’Reilly’s message is pure fantasy. NOWHERE in Islamic jurisprudence are “the “peaceful” verses in the Koran are abrogated and superceded by the “violent verses.” It is true that abrogation is part of orthodox Islam, but a careful look at what verses are abrogated shows a wide variety of topics, that are so treated.
http://www.meforum.org/1754/peace-or-jihad-abrogation-in-islam (Note: This article is by a non-Muslim and may not authoritatively reflect orthodox thinking.)

Most of the verses supposed cited in O’Reilly’s pack of lies say nothing like what he says. For example, near the end of these list of verses, Brian says that verse 8:12 says,
“Terrorise and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an_ (8:12)”

But verse 8;12 says nothing of the sort, “Lo!

You can discover that for yourself and by searching on these words at
          http://www.islamicity.org/quransearch/

There is no point in wasting my time any more reading or replying to any of this HATEFUL, BIGOTED, VICIOUS Islamophobia. It is clear that O’Reilly is not interested in having a serious, fair discussion on the subject.

The whole screed reminds me of Bob Ewell spitting on Atticus Finch in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. All any sane person can do is simply wipe the spit off and ignore the bigot.

BTW You can discover for yourself what any or all of the verses Brian mistranslates by looking them up on Islamicity, or any of the other sites which carry the text of the Holy Qur’an.

          http://quran.com
          http://www.quranexplorer.com/quran/

God will deal with this blasphemer in His own good time, and He will protect the Holy Qur’an as He has for fourteen centuries. He has no need of the defense by any of HIs creations or protection from any of us, and as the Qur’an itself says:

“BEHOLD, as for those who are bent on denying the truth [6] – it is all one to them whether thou warnest them or dost not warn them: they will not believe. – 2:6
“God has sealed their hearts and their hearing, and over their eyes is a veil; [7] and awesome suffering awaits them. – 2:7 (Asad)”

          1. Upon re-reading the verse from the Qur’an which Mr. Reilly so badly misquotes, it is clear that it is God talking to the ANGELS: Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): “I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.” – 8:12 (Y. Ali, trans.)
This is easy to find by going to any reputable Islamic source, and demonstrates the ill-will with which Islamophobes approach the holy scriptures of Islam

      1. I approved your reply…

I am not religious, nor am I an atheist. I think life is fine and embrace the mystery which surrounds us.
The Abrahamic traditions of Islam, Christianity and Judaism… are more alike than different.

The blessings we bestow upon one another… a nod, wink, hug, or touch… are more important than prayer and more essential than worship. Love matters, an’ a good heart. The rest is commentary, art, science or fiction… ~ Tim F.

        https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2015/02/03/spiritual-and-religious-ideas/

      1. You can find just about anything to justify your bigotry. If you choose to see bad, maybe that says more about your eyesight than about the object you are looking at. There is an old saying, “Be careful when you point a finger. Remember, you are pointing three back at yourself.”

  8. I have great respect for Jill, and there is much in this article I agree with. But Jill is “a” Green Party presidential candidate, not “the” Green Party presidential candidate. I would also suggest that Jill’s statement does not include a discussion of the Israeli Lobby in this country, something that this Green presidential candidate finds to be an essential part of any solution to this seemingly intractable problem. When you do not deal with those who have divided loyalties with Israel, as The United States endures with evangelical Christians, particularly those who once proselytised in the Muslim world, as well as Zionist Jews, who have divided national loyalties, and in some cases dual citizenship, you will not get the kind of peace that Jill and I want.

Bill Kreml – Green Party Presidential Candidate

    1. Actually Jill is the effective Green Party nominee.

She has qualified for matching funds as the Green Party presidential candidate. In fact, Jill’s statement includes a detailed and accurate discussion of the Israeli Lobby in this country. Perhaps you have not bothered to read her statements. She is, in fact, the ONLY candidate who has spcifically discussed this issue. And she has solutions. Jill has already assembled a team (She has had a team working for eight years) and is going to be on 85-88% of the ballots. Unless you have done this, your aspirations regarding the Green Party are misdirected. But I hope you do support Jill this time around. Sounds like you need to meet her and talk with her. This Harvard-educated doctor with four degrees is pretty sharp. I have met with her and discussed her ideas. She transcends our last five presidents and is smarter than better than 90% of the nation.

“Dr. Jill Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate, released a clear and comprehensive policy statement on Israel, Palestine and the Middle East on her website. Jill Stein is the only American Presidential candidate to insist on a Middle-East policy platform grounded in international law, human rights, equality, peace, freedom and justice for everyone. 1. Your reply to me is misinformed. I know Jill Stein very well, and like her. But she is hardly the only person talking about the Israeli Lobby. Please avail yourself of the Pennsylvania Green Party debate and see where I differed with Jill by pointing out that there is a sequence to the Israeli/Palestinian solution and that sequence begins with calling out the Zionists and the evangelicals in this country first if there is to be any hope of a just solution in the so-called Middle East. Thank you. Bill Kreml, J. D. , Ph. D. – Green Party Presidential Candidate.

        1. Bill. Because someone disagrees with you, does not mean they are misinformed.
Your ideas about “sequence” and “beginnings” are interesting but ornamental. Rather than arbitrary sequencing and declarations of beginnings, we can just put the cards on the table. No cooperation, no guns.

We do not need name-calling and finger-pointing. We have a coalition building, and these are milllions of people joining hands and doing the hard work. We have a choice next November between War with Republicans or Democrats vs Peace with the Green Party… I think we can bring it home.

“A coalition is building: 31 million Americans who want health care, 40 million Americans who want their student debt erased. 70 million students in secondary school and college who want the opportunity for free K-12 education. 5 million Americans who lost their homes to banks. 3 million Americans used and abused in corporate wars of choice. And 80% of Americans who are in debt and tired of seeing banks bailed out and Main Street sold out”

          https://thewordsmithcollection.wordpress.com/2016/01/15/a-change-is-gonna-come/

          Sanders’ Bottom Line Ain’t Pretty…

“We need to slow down, acknowledge Bernie’s war-and- profiteering kind of record and understand he is proposing more bodies and lives for the corporate elite bottom line.”

          https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2016/02/02/sanders-bottom-line-aint-pretty/

  9. Jill Stein’s platform is exactly the kind of thinking and action that should be taken if the US still wants to be considered and thought of as an honest broker in the Israel Palestinian conflict. Time is running out and good people from both sides of the divide want lasting change. And if the US cannot deliver, then maybe the International Community should try harder. Wasn’t the International Community successful in bringing change to South African apartheid, I don’t see why it would fail here. The only reason it would is if the US hawkish neo-conservatives and Evangelical Christians together with their right wing counterparts in Israel continue to placate the hopes of millions of Jews and Arabs desiring Peace. Peaceful resolution is within our grasp, let’s not falter. Achieving Peace in the Middle-East is a barometer for future Peace on Earth. If we cannot have it there, we will not have it anywhere. The stakes are very high. Let’s get moving in the direction the Green Party is suggesting. Two quotes from Einstein come to mind “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” and “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” How prophetic!!

    1. Dr. Jill Stein can provide a framework for peace in the Middle East, shutting down 27 wars of choice, cutting off Saudi Arabian arms sales to the monarchy and negotiating terms for America to stop exporting terror, munitions and war. The cost is too dear. With the trillions recovered, having restored the peace, we can invest in refurbishing and replacing infrastructure, fixing our schools and converting from a terror, munitions & war for profit based enterprise into a knowledge, technology and peace exporting nation. It is in our hands.
      https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2015/12/10/dr-jill-stein-is-the-right-choice/

      1. What are you trying to say?

Skull and Bones, SABRA, CIA, M16, Mossad and Sabbbatai Zevi
        are 6 topics.

Am certain you are going to make some coherent commentary,
but still missing something beyond topics.

  10. Dear Brian Riley,
Your note is ridiculous. The largest exporter of terror on the planet is the U.S. Government. Bar none. Time to stop drinking the Kool-Aid. Regurgitating nonsense, racism and vitriol from the corporate press is quite bizzare. Believing it is even stranger.
    Facts remain.

    https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2015/11/15/isis-is-not-islam/

“But I think the question that bothers most Muslims is the idea that just because someone says they are Muslim or that their actions are representative of Islam doesn’t make it so. Just because a group can appropriate Islamic sources and Islamic symbols, and then go around doing all sorts of awful things, doesn’t mean that they get to be the ones who define for the world what Islam means.”

“Muslims who reject ISIS aren’t doing it because they’re bad Muslims. They just have a compelling version of Islam that they think is much better.”

  11. Only Democrats or Republicans can win the presidency and vice-presidency because of the Electoral College system. There are 538 electors. Perot got 19% of the vote in 1992 and zero Electoral College votes. Zero. To win there it takes 270. If there is not a win there, the House of Representatives decides. There are no scenarios for a small party winning in either the Electoral College or the House. To change this we need to change the system from electing a president and vice-president from the Electoral College to a national vote for the pairs running.

And if no one gets a majority, we can have a debate between the top two vote getters, and then have a runoff election between the two. To actually implement such a change Americans would need to believe we the people are sovereign and can amend our Constitution outside of Article Five via initiative-and-referendum and/or convention-and-referendum. Short of that, the two corporate, plutocratic, militarist parties will dominate.

  12. Israel: 67 years of trying to pound a square peg into a round hole.
Zionists: Short term smart, long term stupid, real stupid.

    1. “United States policy regarding Israel and Palestine must be revised to make international law, peace and human rights for all people, no matter their religion or nationality, the central priorities. While the U.S. government sometimes voices support for this principle in name, in practice U.S policy towards Palestine and Israel has violated this principle more often than not.

In particular, the United States has encouraged the worst tendencies of the Israeli government as it pursues policies of occupation, apartheid, assassination, illegal settlements, blockades, building of nuclear bombs, indefinite detention, collective punishment, and defiance of international law.

On taking office, I will put all parties on notice – including the Israeli government, the Palestinian Authority, and the gaza1Hamas administration in Gaza – that future U.S. support will depend on respect for human rights and compliance with international law. All three administrations will also be held responsible for preventing attacks by non-state actors on civilians or military personnel of any nationality. The parties will be given 60 days to each demonstrate unilateral material progress towards these ends.

Material progress will be understood to include but not be limited to an end to the discriminatory apartheid policies within the state of Israel, the removal of the Separation Wall, a ban on assassination, movement toward denuclearization, the release of all political prisoners and journalists from Israeli and Palestinian prisons, disarmament of non-state militias, and recognition of the right of self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians.

Failure by any party to demonstrate sufficient material progress will result in the end of U.S. military and economic aid to that party. In this way, U.S. policy will begin to become consistent with its practices regarding other violators of human rights and international law in the region.

Consistency in U.S. policy regarding human rights and international law will begin, but not end, with Palestine and Israel. I will apply this same approach to other nations, such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Yemen, among others. I will also ensure that the United States begins to honor its obligations to protect human rights, and will expect that the world community will hold us to the same account we hold others.

Finally, as President I will put the full weight of the United States behind the establishment of a Palestine and Israel Truth and Reconciliation Commission as the vehicle for shifting from an era of human rights violations to one based on trust and bringing all parties together to seek solutions. Any stakeholder who enters into this process must pledge to work for a solution that respects the rights of all involved. This will bring America’s Middle East policy into alignment with American values. I understand that in the end, a dedicated commitment to justice will further American interests in the region much better than the current policies of supporting abuses and violence by one side against the other. And I believe that this is in the best interests of all people living in Israel and Palestine.”

      Dr. Jill Stein

“In the world we deserve, I would welcome Edward Snowden home a hero, and release Chelsea Manning, Jeffrey Sterling, Julian Assange and other courageous truth tellers with praise and reparations. Their actions are essential for preserving our imperiled democracy in the face of secretive, unaccountable corporate government.”

      https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2015/10/24/revolution/

    1. Ranting Girl is Right…

Israeli and American aggression must end. Dr. Stein will get the job done.

      “Foreign Policy

Stein stated clearly that the U.S.’s current policies in the Middle East are destructive, and calls for an immediate end to drone attacks. She further states that U.S. foreign policy should be based on international law, and points to the recent agreement with Iran which, although far from perfect, is a good example.

      * Support for governments that violate international law would immediately end under a Stein presidency. This includes all funding to Israel.

      * The U.S. continues to ‘fix’ problems by doing more of what caused them in the first place.
