“I do not believe in God and I am not an atheist.”
― Albert Camus, Notebooks 1951-1959
Real life may be tedious, but blind faith (in invisible gods, devils, angels, demons, heavens and hells) is a hard road to hoe..
Death Don’t Have No Mercy
“I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own — a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms.
…Basic scientific observation has determined that the physical part of the brain causes consciousness. We have five senses and our individual brains interpret these sensations. This is what we call consciousness.
…The hypothesis that the brain creates consciousness… has vastly more evidence for it than the hypothesis
that consciousness creates the brain.
… Thousands of experiments confirm the hypothesis that neurochemical processes produce subjective experiences. …Because we know for a fact that measurable consciousness dies when the brain dies, until proved otherwise, the default hypotheses must be that brains cause consciousness.
I am, therefore I think.”

“Life is hard. Then you die. Then they throw dirt in your face. Then the worms eat you. Be grateful it happens in that order.”

“Life is tragic simply because the earth turns and the sun inexorably rises and sets, and one day, for each of us, the sun will go down for the last, last time. Perhaps the whole root of our trouble, the human trouble, is that we will sacrifice all the beauty of our lives, will imprison ourselves in totems, taboos, crosses, blood sacrifices, steeples, mosques, races, armies, flags, nations, in order to deny the fact of death, the only fact we have. It seems to me that one ought to rejoice in the fact of death–ought to decide, indeed, to earn one’s death by confronting with passion the conundrum of life. One is responsible for life: It is the small beacon in that terrifying darkness from which we come and to which we shall return.”
― James Baldwin
Howlin’ Wolf – Dust My Broom
Education is the key.
Christian Jesus, a devil with horns, angry god, angels cavorting on clouds, demons and dervishes dancing, Mickey Mouse and the big bad wolf are folk stories and fairy tales about myths and magic.

These tall tales have the capacity to precipitate terror, munitions and dozens of avoidable wars and murders.
“Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”
