Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The day was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly and in 2001, the General Assembly voted to designate the day as a period of non-violence and ceasefire.
We cannot continue spending trillions killing millions for billionaires in pursuit of corporate empire. Global economists agree this has already bankrupted the country and will destroy the nation between 2020 and 2030. We are teetering on the brink.
It is critical that we shut down avoidable wars and reinvest in jobs with justice. We can rebuild sustainable infrastructure and restore human resources by choosing peace over war. These are the tasks at hand.
