Capitalism and racism have been intertwined from the beginning–which is why confronting one requires organizing to confront the other, writes Phil Gasper. Racism has been an ugly and persistent feature of the United States since the country was founded. Today, despite the important victories of the 1960s civil rights movement and other struggles, racial disparities are in many respects getting worse.
The National Urban League found “little accountability for law enforcement responsible for killing unarmed Black men, teenagers and children; a continual assault on voting rights; [and] widening economic inequality gaps,” among other major problems. As the report notes: Sixty years after the ruling in Brown v. Board of Education ended segregation in America’s public schools, separate and unequal is still a pervasive reality. While de jure, or legal, segregation has been abolished, de facto, or the actual practice of segregation, is greater now than it was 40 years ago.
Black and Brown students are less likely to share classrooms with white students. We also see separate and unequal levels of expectations and resources in our schools that continue to break down along economic, and thus largely color, lines.

The USA was founded on racism. European nations invaded, attacked, occupied and exterminated indigenous American people of color.
The perpetrators were European invaders who persecuted, starved, brutalized and murdered millions. These same invaders, led by Mr. Lincoln, then went on to murder 38 more. Europeans proactively carried out murders of millions while stealing their resources and lands. Too many historians try to rewrite this American holocaust.
In this specific case, 38 indigenous people were simultaneously murdered. Uncounted others died in prison. And two entire tribes were forcibly removed from their own lands, for crimes they did not commit. My ancestors were North Dakota Sioux forced from their homes by President Lincoln.

Racism: colonialism, hate and genocide marks the birth of the United States. American colonial conquest was all about racism. The nation was built on racism and slavery. Today America exports terrorism, munitions and wars about extraction.

The United States government has militarized police bureaus and the U. S. Supreme court says these brown-shirts in blue with badges are allowed to kill thousands of innocents at home. Our so-called leaders export terror, munitions and unnecessary wars: spending trillions to murder millions for billionaires, munitions cartels and war-profiteers in unprovoked aggression for extraction, exploitation and extortion. This rank treason must not stand. The victims in these American attacks are mostly people of color. White racism sits in the Oval office. It past time to clean house.
Trump ignores human rights and common sense while spreading racism, misogyny and hate. This must not stand.
