Native Americans Under Assault

Stand up for Standing Rock Sioux

This assault on native American tribes is illegal, immoral and an abomination. This is not who we are. Resist!

sr5Cannon Ball, ND– Hundreds of water protectors were injured at the Standing Rock encampments when law enforcement blasted them with water cannons in freezing temperatures Sunday evening.   The attacks came as water protectors used a semi-truck to remove burnt military vehicles that police had chained to concrete barriers weeks ago, blocking traffic on Highway 1806.  Water protectors’ efforts to clear the road and improve access to the camp for emergency services were met with tear gas, an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), stinger grenades, rubber bullets, and indiscriminate use of a water cannon with an air temperature of 26 degrees Fahrenheit. Some flares shot by law enforcement started grass fires which were ignored by the water cannons and had to be extinguished by water protectors. Law enforcement also shot down three media drones and targeted journalists with less lethal rounds.

sr3National Lawyers Guild legal observers on the frontlines have confirmed that multiple people were unconscious and bleeding after being shot in the head with rubber bullets.  One elder went into cardiac arrest at the frontlines but medics administered CPR and were able to resuscitate him.  The camp’s medical staff and facilities are overwhelmed and the local community of Cannonball has opened their school gymnasium for emergency relief.

2016-09-16-1474044012-2676960-defend_the_sacredUnarmed people are brutalized by thugs with badges. Obama does nothing. When will he send Federal Troops to restrain these thugs from illegal and unconstitutional assaults on innocents.

War is not Peace. Ask the victims.

If we continue expanding unprovoked wars of aggression, before 2030 we will be in full retreat while rising seas flood nuclear reactors and our coastal cities.

hillarynutI am flabbergasted that otherwise intelligent progressives are willing to pretend Hilary Clinton is not a corporate shill and war-monger.

obama_yes_we_can_murderReasons why Hillary Clinton won’t be good for women… or anyone else. “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise why Hillary Clinton’s hawkish foreign policy might be a problem when it comes to women’s rights. Unless you believe that the lives of women elsewhere don’t matter…”

…Clinton has been much more than a bit player in the Syrian crisis. Her diplomat Ambassador Christopher Stevens in Benghazi was killed as he was running a CIA operation to ship Libyan heavy weapons to Syria. queen hillaryClinton herself took the lead role in organizing the so-called “Friends of Syria” to back the CIA-led insurgency.

In a climate in which war-weary Americans are making their opposition to U.S. intervention and war profiteering heard, Clinton, who served in the U.S. Senate from 2001 to 2009 and as Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, has supported every major recent U.S. war and intervention.

Hillary Clinton is a war hawk. Is this what we need?

Hillary Clinton advocates American aggression against nations whose people have not attacked us.
She supports CIA destabilization tactics, unprovoked attacks, invasions, illegal wars, occupations, exploitation and overt imperialism
Neither Hillary nor Trump will do.
We cannot continue unprovoked American aggression for profit.

“What difference, at this point, does it make?”
“Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.”

Peace and Progress or Unending Wars

On most areas of economic policy, most progressives agree more than they disagree. But too many people with good hearts refuse to face facts about the last 8 years. This studious ignorance is not helpful. We cannot continue fighting 27 simultaneous, unprovoked and unwinnable wars. This has bankrupted the nation.

peace5The newest propaganda from the corporate elite is working too well. People who would not accept the illegal Vietnam war are now willing to condone or endorse more than 27 illegal and unprovoked wars of choice against smaller and less powerful nations who have not attacked us.

What have we become?  Too many of the people who stood up for peace have now chosen to remain silent. These unprovoked American wars for extraction, exploitation and extortion which expanded under Obama have continued to expand under “The Don” huckster and con-man D. J. Trump.

Where have the peacemakers gone?

If there was ever a time to speak up, this is the time. We have become the aggressor in 27 avoidable wars. This costs trillions of dollars and millions of lives. resistThese unnecessary wars of aggression create new enemies while making us demonstrably less secure.

We have not, will not and cannot “win” wars of aggression against dozens of smaller and less powerful nations who have not attacked us. Surrendering to unnecessary wars is a losing proposition.

In most areas of economic policy, most progressives agree more than they disagree.
But too many people with good hearts refuse to face facts about the last 9 plus years.
This studious ignorance is frustrating and fatal.

We cannot continue fighting 27 simultaneous, unprovoked and unwinnable wars. This insanity has already bankrupted the nation.

…We are still fighting unprovoked wars (Bombings, Drones, Other [CIA]) in Afghanistan, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gaza, Gulf of Guinea, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Libya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Tunesia, Uganda, Ukraine, West Bank, & Yemen.

obamabush

No sane person can call this surrender to expanding wars “good leadership.”

During his time in office Obama bombed more than TEN sovereign states:  Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, the Phillipines, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen and Kandahar.

None of these nations attacked us.

This aggression against smaller and less powerful nations represents more violence than any of Obama’s predecessors since World War II. Most bombings violate International Treaties, U. S. Civil Law, the war powers act and constitutional mandates.

obama_yes_we_can_murder

Most Americans do not hate the former president, but we despise how congress and the president have spent trillions killing millions for billionaires instead of attending to the peoples’ business.

Barack Obama refused to govern. Instead, he allowed the CIA, the Pentagon, war-hawks and profiteers to bankrupt the nation with endless, expanding and increasing wars of aggression for the corporate bottom line.

We have become the primary source of terror, munitions and war on the planet. This matters.  No thinking person can condone what the Obama administration has done to the nation and the planet.

The U. S. A. is now Murder, Inc. And the Don of this organized crime syndicate,
D.J. Trump, is now on board for dozens of expanding wars and bankruptcy.

 no6

Publishing facts about the last 9 years can stir people up. We have watched dysfunctional leadership bankrupt the nation while avoidable deaths rise at home and abroad.

The Obama administration failed to secure the peace or create jobs at home.

This is the Obama legacy.

unions

I  would enjoy having a beer with Obama at the local pub. But his refusal to govern is dangerous and disappointing. He allowed the CIA and Pentagon to take us from 4 wars to 27 wars.

Sigh. I voted for him once. But he stabbed us in the back and expects us to thank him for pulling the knife out halfway.  No more “lesser-evil” for me.

Obama surrendered to the corporate elite. Liberal apologies for Obama’s bloody eight years cannot change facts on the ground. We have created millions new enemies, incurred trillions in new debt and are demonstrably less secure. This is a big part of how Trump the racist chump got elected.

war

American military misadventures have bankrupted the nation. If these more than two dozen simultaneous and expanding wars continue… we will be in full retreat from more than 900 military bases while dead oceans become seas rising to flood all shores.

https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2016/05/22/the-dream-is-over/

Facts matter. And we are in a heap of trouble.  We need to vote our values instead of our fears in 2018 and 2020. A Green New Deal is exactly what we need. Shut down corporate wars to rebuild the nation.

Our New President could have been:
Dr. Jill Stein

DSC_0635-copy.14236.widea.0“My Power to the People Plan creates deep system change, moving from the greed and exploitation of corporate capitalism to a human-centered economy that puts people, planet and peace over profit.

It offers direct answers to the economic, social, and ecological crises brought on by both corporate political parties. And it empowers the American people to fix our broken political system and make real the promise of democracy.

This plan will end unemployment and poverty; avert climate catastrophe; build a sustainable, just economy; and recognize the dignity and human rights of everyone in our society and our world. The power to create this new world is not in our hopes, it’s not in our dreams – it’s in our hands.”

War and Peace

We can rebuild sustainable infrastructure and restore human resources by choosing peace over war.

jsmill“A person may cause evil to others not only by his actions but by his inaction, and in either case he is justly accountable to them for the injury.”
― John Stuart Mill, On Liberty

Systems and isms do not attack anyone or start any wars. Hitler was a madman and needed to be stopped.  But in waging war against the Nazis, Americans became like their enemies.  We brutalized and murdered prisoners and then dropped two bombs which could have been avoided.

abombDropping the first atomic bomb was sick, the Japanese were ready to surrender. And dropping a second bomb was perverse.  But that these American atrocities took place, does not imply it would have been OK to allow Hitler’s genocide and murders to continue.

And recently, when Obama spent 1.5 trillion building more nuclear weapons while engaged in unprovoked attacks across the globe…. we have become the ones who need to be stopped.  Unfortunately Trump is on board with dozens of wars.

The solution is not a surrender to war, but to stand up and secure the peace.
But political “reality” intervenes.

Reality is not all it’s cracked up to be. Some say life is merely an illusion. But over time we find small truths, big lies, radical science and brilliant ideas.
 dove
Unfortunately, most of the time war trumps peace, aggression spreads and myths abound.  Too many live in personal fictions and find facts too great a burden to bear.
“Reality denied comes back to haunt.”

“At home, militarized police departments allow officers to kill unarmed citizens at will with zero accountability, two weeks paid vacations and get out of jail free cards. And our leaders export this aggression overseas with illegal drones known to kill an average of 50 innocents per strike.”

war
It is critical that we shut down corporate wars and reinvest in jobs with justice. We can rebuild sustainable infrastructure and restore human resources by choosing peace over war. These are the tasks at hand.
The pirates in charge of ongoing U. S. wars of choice are profiteers, pure and simple. Their military arrogance and disdain for the public and the law is astounding. But there are more of us, by a long shot… than there are of them.  This is our time.

American Cops: Armed & Dangerous

Jamar Clark, 11/15/15 Minneapolis, MN:

Two Minneapolis police officers shot Clark, claiming he “interfered” with emergency responders helping an assault victim. Activists and witnesses maintain that Clark was unarmed and handcuffed when he was shot.

No officers have been charged with a crime for killing Jamar.

68. Samuel Harrell, 4/21/15

(Some police bureaus still do not bother to report murders of citizens.)

Despite public protests, occupations, direct action, and increased public scrutiny, U.S. police killed more people in 2015 than in 2014. While numbers vary from source to source  — the website killedbypolice.net found police have killed 1,186 people in 2015 (the U.S. government currently does not track how many people are killed in police encounters.)

2014-15policekilling

CREDIT: DYLAN PETROHILOS/THINKPROGRESS

The data from killedbypolice.net show that white people are the largest group of killed by the police. But when taken together, the number of people of color killed by police — Latino, black, Asian, and indigenous people — surpasses the number of whites. As ThinkProgressnoted last year, young black men are 21 times more likely to be killed by cops than young white men, according to a ProPublica analysis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also compiled data which show that people of color are most likely to be killed by cops overall.

The data also show that California, Texas, and Florida lead the U.S. in terms of deadly police encounters.

above is from: http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2015/12/28/3735190/killed-by-police-2015/

2015policekillingsunarmed.jpeg

Key Findings:

  • Police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015, nearly twice each week.

  • Nearly 1 in 3 black people killed by police in 2015 were identified as unarmed, though the actual number is likely higher due to underreporting

  • 37% of unarmed people killed by police were black in 2015 despite black people being only 13% of the U.S. population

  • Unarmed black people were killed at 5x the rate of unarmed whites in 2015

  • Only 10 of the 102 cases in 2015 where an unarmed black person was killed by police resulted in officer(s) being charged with a crime, and only 2 of these deaths (Matthew Ajibade and Eric Harris) resulted in convictions of officers involved. Only 1 of 2 officers convicted for their involvement in Matthew Ajibade’s death received jail time. He was sentenced to 1 year in jail and allowed to serve this time exclusively on weekends. Deputy Bates, who killed Eric Harris, was sentenced to 4 years for murdering an unarmed man. This is the only cop who has served time for murders committed by police in 2015.

The Peaceresource editor’s Note:
I read ALL of these incidents.  Why do we allow this?
If you read these 102 cases of police assault, killings, and flat out murder,
perhaps you will find a reason to stand up and fight back for justice.
We ARE under attack.

peace, Tim Flanagan

War is good for nothin’!

“The minute we stand up, we are unstoppable. It’s time to forget the lesser evil and fight for the greater good.”…

aa2Americans are sick of war. Avoidable corporate wars have crippled our economy.  Beyond this, as 27 or more simultaneous wars expand, this will bankrupt this nation while creating new enemies and making us less secure.

Instead of digging a bigger hole, we can shut down the wars, invest in the American people and export knowledge, technology and peace instead of terror, munitions and war.

(The Green New Deal)

“The Green New Deal is a package of policy proposals that addresses global warming, war, peace and financial crises. This vetted plan echoes the New Deal, the social and economic programs launched by US President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the wake of the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and the onset of the Great Depression that made all ships rise.

Dr. Stein will be on 85-100% of the ballots. If a goodly portion of the 75% of the electorate who are leaning towards a third party vote for Dr. Stein, it will be because she represents their own best interests. She may, after public debates with Trump and Clinton, win in a landslide.

Empire, deconstruction and revolution

“…we are now fighting 27 simultaneous wars… and have been building an empire based on more than 800 offensive military outposts. We sell arms to both sides of artificial conflicts sponsored by the CIA and/or the Pentagon. This increasing and expanding empire, selling unending wars for profit, can only bankrupt the nation.”

dran_houseofcardspicturesonwallsdotcomWhen Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton were presidential contenders, they both endorsed, encouraged and supported
unnecessary wars and avoidable profiteering for the corporate elite.

The offered nothing better than Trump’s hate, vitriol and rancor.

Eight more years of war is what they promised: dozens of unnecessary conflicts, thousands of avoidable drones and more troubling presidential assassinations which make murder without trial the new American rule without law.

Now Donald Trump has been installed in office to continue building this house of cards (unending wars for corporate profit) which we know will fall.

During a  70 year piece of time, we fought wars with 30 nations, one or two at a time, for no particularly compelling reasons.  NONE of these countries attacked America.

But in the last nine years, with aggressive military conquests against smaller and less powerful nations, we are now fighting at least 27 simultaneous and expanding wars… and have been building an empire based on more than 900 offensive military outposts in 150 nations. We sell arms to both sides of artificial conflicts sponsored by the CIA and/or the Pentagon.  This expanding empire, selling unending wars for profit, has already bankrupted the nation.

Fiscal collapse, coffins and chaos will not take eight years. Flogging the dead horse of wars for profit won’t work. And Trump remains a chump.

None of the above: Hillary, Donald, Bernie or a dozen other corporate cons
are not worth my vote.  I could not vote for surrender to eight more years of war.

Why would anyone?

We only had one choice last November. Her name was Dr. Jill Stein.

https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2015/05/02/jill-stein-walks-the-talk/

She had the only viable plan: The Green New Deal.

https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2015/07/14/power-to-the-people/

aa2We could have shut down 27 unnecessary wars, invested in peace, people and profit…
and exported knowledge, technology and peace instead of terror, munitions and war.

We had an opportunity to stop wasting resources on avoidable wars by investing funds in securing the peace, restoring infrastructure and delivering critical human services.

We could have chosen to put people in front of military profits. This would have allowed rebuilding America and creating a peaceful, progressive and prosperous future for everyday people.

https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2016/02/23/jill-stein-is-on-a-cross-country-tour/

If had chosen the Green New Deal: erasing student debt, delivering non-profit health care, localizing banks, regulating large corporations and bailing out Main Street instead of propping up Wall Street… this would have stopped foreclosures and bankruptcies by putting everyday people in charge with 100 percent employment opportunities the first year and 100 percent renewable energy by 2030. All ships could have risen.

Many progressive unions across America and around the globe understand that Jill Stein and the Green New Deal provided an outline for peace and progress:  We must shut down corporate wars to create a sustainable future.

We can no longer allow the corporate elite to drive jobs overseas by starting avoidable wars for the corporate bottom line.

https://thepeaceresource.wordpress.com/2016/01/22/jill-stein-labor-unions-can-win/

We deserve better. Unending wars against smaller and less powerful nations will continue to suck this nation dry or we can organize, educate, wake up and shake up the American people.jxgf
