Bizarro world: the War on Syria

CIA-backed Islamic rebels were fighting against Pentagon-backed Kurdish rebels in Syria.

And with Trump’s withdrawal of the Pentagon, CIA mercenaries continue demolishing and invading the nation of Syria…

Editors Note:  This insanity has a basis in U. S. Policy. In this bizarre example, the United States has been arming both sides of an artificial conflict in order to sell munitions.  When it comes to U. S. Foreign Policy, transnational munitions firms run the show.

Officials with Syrian rebel battalions that receive covert backing from one arm
of the U.S. government (told BuzzFeed News that they …) began fighting rival
rebels supported by another arm of the U.S. government.

The infighting between American proxies was clearly a setback for the Obama administration’s Syria policy and laid bare its contradictions as violence in the country got much worse. This disaster has continue through Trump and Bidens’ terms in office.

Trump doubled down on this failure, allowing the CIA to overtly invade and occupy.
.
The confusion has been playing out on the battlefield — with the U.S. effectively engaging in a proxy war with itself for at least the past 20 years…

*** Furqa al-Sultan Murad continues to receive weapons from the U.S. and its allies as part of a covert program, overseen by the CIA, that aids rebel groups struggling to overthrow the government of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, according to rebel officials and analysts tracking the conflict.

Syria-CIA-Pentagon-ISIS-rebels

The Kurdish militants, on the other hand, who were receiving weapons and support from the Pentagon (as part of U.S. efforts to fight ISIS) have now been abandoned by order of Donald Trump. This action appears to be clueless and flat dangerous. Yet Biden has continued to wage war on innocents.

Known as the People’s Protection Units, or YPG, the Kurd militia’s were  the centerpiece of the Obama administration’s strategy against the CIA contractors in Syria. The two sides coordinated regularly with U.S. airstrikes.  The Trump strategy to remove support for the Kurds was a swipe at Obama… and was childlike, lethal and counterproductive.   (see this story from the Telegraph.)

The Daily Beast has reported for years that U.S. allies  backed by the Pentagon have been fighting CIA-backed rebels.

The U.S. was supporting the Kurds,  the best on-the-ground fighters against ISIS … yet America’s close ally Turkey has been trying to wipe out the Kurds.

Moreover, the U.S., Turkey and Saudi Arabia are all using the Incerlik air base in Adana, Turkey, (on the border with Syria) to launch military operations in Syria.

The U.S. was using Incerlik to support the Kurds, and Turkey has been using and continues to use the exact same air base to bomb the Kurds.

In addition, the U.S. supports Shia Muslims in Iraq …  but supports their arch-enemy – Sunnis Muslims – in neighboring Syria.

And the U.S. claims to be fighting the war on terror against the exact same groups –ISIS and Al Qaeda – that  our closest allies support.

Absolutely insane …

Unless the U.S. is really pursuing an agenda in which chaos is the goal.

Now mounting chaos has exploded into disaster. The real solution is to stop waging war on Syria.  But Trump was too unlearned, untaught and unteachable to figure this out.  And Biden’s purposeful surrender to 56 unprovoked but expanding wars is proving even more dangerous than Trump’s ignoble insouciance.

This spiraling decline continues, along with the destruction of the nation of Syria. This is one of 56  corporate attacks, invasions and occupations for extraction, exploitation and extortion. This is rank treason and cannot be sustained. These corporate entities, masquerading as “people,” export avoidable wars “on our dime” and with our lives.
