Jill Stein is The American Green Party Candidate for the 2024 presidential Election. She declared her candidacy on November 9, 2023. On Aug. 16, Jill Stein announced that historian and 2004 Penn Ph.D. graduate Rudolph “Butch” Ware III will be her running mate in the 2024 United States presidential election. The Green Party officially nominated Stein and Ware as their presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively. Ware, a current professor at the University of California at Santa Barbara, received his Ph.D. from Penn and was a professor at the University of Michigan.

Stein Biography:

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Stein is a physician, organizer and environmental-health advocate who lives in Lexington, Massachusetts. She has been elected to Lexington’s town meeting twice. In 2003, Stein co-founded the Massachusetts Coalition for Healthy Communities, a nonprofit dedicated to the health and well-being of Massachusetts communities. Stein’s husband, Richard Rohrer, is also a physician. They have two grown sons, Ben and Noah.

Education:

Stein graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1973 with a concentration in social relations—a combined major of anthropology, sociology and psychology. She graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1979.
