“Russian scholars who wish to investigate and write about sensitive topics, such as the collaboration of Russians with the Nazi occupiers or the atrocities committed by Soviet troops, are deterred from doing so lest they be sent to prison. Prosecutions and convictions have indeed occurred. Fairy Tales

The German attack against the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, code-named Operation Barbarossa, constituted the largest invasion in history, with millions of troops, tens of thousands of tanks and artillery systems, nearly 5,000 combat aircraft, and hundreds of thousands of combat vehicles. The all-out onslaught of the Wehrmacht nearly knocked the Red Army out of the war in the initial days and weeks, yet somehow, despite appalling conditions at the front, Soviet soldiers managed to rally back.Over the next four years, the Red Army bore the brunt of the fighting in Europe, eventually
RED ARMY RIFLE DIVISIONS & BRIGADESlaunching massive counteroffensives that drove the Wehrmacht out of Eastern Europe and back into Germany, where the final surrender took place on 9 May 1945 in Berlin. The Soviet Union suffered by far the largest absolute number of casualties in Europe, with nearly 27 million killed. The Wehrmacht and SS fought with horrifying brutality, but the Red Army and NKVD also perpetrated systematic atrocities both during the war and in the early postwar occupations of Germany and Eastern Europe.
During WWII, who was crueler: the Soviets towards the Germans or the Germans towards the Soviets? - Quora

Soviets towards the Germans: Germans towards the Soviets?

The wanton cruelty and destruction of the war in Europe should temper commemorations of it in Russia in this anniversary year. The immense heroism of Soviet soldiers in fighting the Wehrmacht is undeniable, but the much darker side of the Soviet war effort is also undeniable. It is unfortunate that in Russia nowadays only glorious images and speeches are tolerated. It would be much better not only for the history of Russia but also for the country’s future if Russian leaders were willing to permit—and even encourage—a much more even-handed discussion of the Soviet Union’s role in the war.”

Why the Ukraine Crisis Is the West’s Fault: The Liberal Delusions That Provoked Putin
By John J. Mearsheimer September/October 2014 Published on August 18, 2014
The United States and its European allies now face a choice on Ukraine. They can continue their current policy, which will exacerbate hostilities with Russia and devastate Ukraine in the process—a scenario in which everyone would come out a loser. Or they can switch gears and work to create a prosperous but neutral Ukraine, one that does not threaten Russia and allows the West to repair its relations with Moscow. With that approach, all sides would win.
MOSCOW: The Kremlin said on Thursday that the length of Russia’s military operation inUkraine conflict: Kyiv braces for Russian assault Ukraine depended on how it progressed and on its aims, and that the assault should ideally cleanse the country of “Nazis” and “neutralise” Kyiv’s military potential.  In a conference call with reporters, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that nobody was talking about occupying Ukraine and that it was “unacceptable” to use the word to describe in the context of Russia’s operation.

“Under a Stein presidency, the military economy will transition to a green economy, with decreased dependence on fossil fuels, and an end to subsidies for military contractors. The Fortune 500 makes more money from weapons sales in America than in any other nation on the planet. This stimulates the economy, but these funds come out of everyday peoples’ pockets. A green alternative of securing the peace would create jobs, and do so without causing the deaths of countless millions around the world. Additionally, the justified hatred that much of the world feels towards the U.S. would fade, as the U.S. becomes a more responsible player on the world stage.”
