Joy, Blues & Trouble: Invisible religion

Religion
has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time!

But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He’s all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can’t handle money!”

― George Carlin

Sometimes…. fervent and sincere beliefs about truth, lies, science and fiction are tiny guesses about human misapprehension, confusion, bias, fear, myths and magic.

Quantum religion: spiritual truths, lies, facts, fiction, blues and infinity…

Willie Dixon – Spoonful

“Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.”

~Karl Marx

Albert King – 1981 – Born Under A Bad Sign

“All religion, my friend, is simply evolved out of fraud, fear, greed, imagination, and poetry.”

― Edgar Allan Poe

ELMORE JAMES – Dust My Broom

“Surely the day will come when color means nothing more than the skin tone, when religion is seen uniquely as a way to speak one’s soul, when birth places have the weight of a throw of the dice and all men are born free, when understanding breeds love and brotherhood.”

~Josephine Baker

Josephine Baker – Greatest Hits (FULL ALBUM)

“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers; and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells Wakan-Taka (the Great Spirit); and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us. This is the real peace, and the others are but reflections of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals; and the third is that which is made between two nations. But above all, you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is known that true peace, which, as I have often said, is within the souls of men.”

—Black Elk

Joy and Blues – Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers

“Love takes off masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within.”

―James A. Baldwin
