Reality is not all it’s cracked up to be and some say life’s an illusion. Over time we find small truths, big lies, radical science and brilliant ideas.
But so far war trumps peace, aggression spreads and myths abound. Too many live in personal fictions and find facts too great a burden to bear.
“Reality denied comes back to haunt.”
― Philip K. Dick, Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said
King Obama is not known for courage: fear, compromise and surrender are his legacy.
“A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep.”
― Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back
No other president except Obama (since World War Two) has misused our military to bomb 7 nations and wage war in 27 nations. Neither the military nor the people in these countries we attack have attacked us. We have become the aggressor: exporting terror, munitions and wars in attacks on smaller and less powerful nations.
We spend trillions, killing millions, for the benefit of billionaires who pay no taxes and steal the taxes we pay. The Millionaires Glee Club in congress , the White House and The U. S. Supreme court ignore everyday people and misuse our military resources, catering to the concerns of corporate criminals and the economic elite while people suffer, infrastructure deteriorates and public services have begun falling apart.
Why do we allow it?
“People who believe that they are strong-willed and the masters of their destiny can only continue to believe this by becoming specialists in self-deception.”
― James Baldwin, Giovanni’s Room
On Obama’s watch, we have become the terror. But Obama did not want to rock the boat, so he let the CIA and the Pentagon run the country. Bernie and Hillary want to do exactly the same. And Trump has designs on being the New King of American fascism.
“You have to quit confusing a madness with a mission.”
― Flannery O’Connor, The Violent Bear it Away
The frustrating part is how everyday people have been lied to so long, too many can no longer separate truth from lies. So they lie to themselves to avoid the guilt.
“There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.”
― Søren Kierkegaard
“Above all, don’t lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
“Of all the liars in the world, sometimes the worst are our own fears.”
― Rudyard Kipling, The Collected Works
It is time, with this new declaration of independence from the corporate cons, that we take back this nation, and our lives, from these pretenders. Viva la revolution!
